Fresh ideas

Samer ·

Where my story ideas come from, and the five-minute habit that keeps them coming.

Readers often ask where ideas come from. The honest answer: everywhere, but only if you are ready to catch them.

My five-minute habit

Every evening I write down three things I noticed that day: an overheard sentence, a strange shadow, a question I could not answer. Most go nowhere. A few become books.

Where the last three books began

  • Ark Forging: a blacksmith's workshop in the old souq.
  • Mists of Algorab: the name of a star in an old astronomy book.
  • Cyber Angel: a broken phone screen that still lit up.

Try it

Keep a small notebook for a week, then share your favourite note with me at the next book signing.
