The farm

Terraced vines, cool mountain air

Our family has farmed these terraces in Al Shafa for almost a century. We grow grapes, pomegranates and figs, pick everything by hand and dry, press and pack it on the farm. Come at harvest time and taste the grapes straight from the vine.

Our crops

What grows on our terraces

Taifi grapes

Our signature grape: large, pale pink berries with a honey sweetness, picked from late July.

Bayadi grapes

Firm white grapes with a crisp bite, the ones we dry for golden raisins.

Pomegranates

Ruby-red fruit picked in autumn, for fresh juice and our pomegranate molasses.

Figs

Soft purple figs at the end of summer, eaten fresh or cooked into jam.

Farm visits

Walk the terraces and pick your own

Walk among the vines, see the drying racks and the molasses kettles, and fill a basket with grapes you pick yourself. Visits run all year; picking from July to September.

The farmer

Four generations on one hillside

Abu Saad grew up among these vines and has run the farm for over thirty years. He believes good fruit is made in the soil: healthy terraces, patient ripening and picking by hand at dawn.

Grow

Hand-tended vines on terraces 1,800 metres above sea level.

Harvest

Picked at dawn at peak ripeness, then sorted by hand.

Dry and press

Dried in the sun for raisins or slowly cooked into molasses on the farm.

Grown and packed on our own land in Al Shafa.
