Review: Bottega Zenallo, handmade pasta in Achrafieh
Lara Shamma ·
A cosy Italian bottega with hand-rolled pasta and a tiramisu worth the wait.
Bottega Zenallo feels like a neighbourhood trattoria that has been on this Achrafieh corner forever, although it opened only two years ago.
The pasta is rolled by hand every morning in the front window. Order the pappardelle with slow-cooked beef ragù and the burrata with roasted cherry tomatoes and basil, and let the staff choose a side of greens for the table.
The room is small, loud in the best way and full of families at weekends. Children are welcome, and the kitchen happily makes a plain tomato pasta for little ones.
Save room for the tiramisu, made without alcohol and served in a generous glass. It is small and lively, so book ahead or come before eight.
My verdict: honest Italian cooking at fair prices. 4 out of 5.
