LED lighting: bright, safe and efficient
Nouf
LED bulbs use far less power, run cooler and last for years. How to choose the right ones.
Switching to LED is one of the quickest ways to lower your electricity bill. An LED bulb uses up to 80% less energy than an old incandescent bulb and can last 15,000 hours or more.
Why it is safer
LEDs run much cooler, so there is less risk near curtains, ceilings and in children's rooms.
How to choose
- Look at lumens, not watts: about 800 lumens replaces a 60 W bulb.
- Pick the colour temperature: 2700–3000 K for warm living rooms, 4000 K for kitchens and offices.
- Use dimmable LEDs with a compatible dimmer, or they may flicker.
